DescriptionThis rug features an imposing AK-47 assault rifle on a white ground with a red border. The rifle, on the left hand side of the centrefield and pointing upwards, is red and black and has a flower on the handle. To the right of the rifle are three armoured personnel carriers, nine helicopters, a jet, two grenades, and several filler motifs. A vertical row of X's in red and black are located to the left of the rifle's handle. The border is red with a white zigzag and black "tassels". The selvedges are black and the ends are plain-woven cotton. It has longish white cotton fringes.
NarrativeThis rug features the ubiquitous AK-47 Soviet assault rifle as well as several helicopters, personnel carriers, grenades and what may be a missile. The style has proven popular abroad and has been widely reproduced. Rendered with sensitivity, it suggests what must be a great visual awareness of weapons
