| Photo Description | With the boom of two brass six-pounder cannons in their ears and cries of "Good luck!" from their base camrades, the men of Muskox headed north from Churchill, Manitoba, February 15, after a 24-hour postponement because of weather. As they rolled past the saluting base the temperature was 43-below-zero and a 27 mile-an-hour wind was whipping across the frozen country. Shown above is the saluting base with Brig. R.O.V. Morton, C.B.E., District Officer Commanding, M.D. 10 taking the salute. With him are Air-Vice-Marshal David Guthrie, Officer in charge of Air Command #2 R.C.A.F.; Col. J.E. Wilson, Deputy Director "Muskox"; Lt-Col. J.D. Cleghorn, E.D., Montreal, Base Commander, and other high ranking officers. |
