| Photo Description | One of the purposes of Exercise Muskox is to study problems of supplying a ground force by air. Shown above is one of the crews unlashing two 45-gallon drums of gasoline; rolling them out the open door to parachute down to the moving force. All supplies -- food, fuel, spare parts, etc., will be dropped in this way as the snowmobiles climb north. Leaving Churchill, Manitoba in mid-February the moving force of 12 snowmobiles expects to reach its first stop, Eskimo Point -- 210 miles north -- in four days. In the official Canadian Army photo above are, left to right, Pte. Bill Evans, Nesbitt, Man.; Rflmn Lorne Gordon, Winnipeg, and the No. 1 of the crew Sgt. Harry Reid, Brandon, Man. |
