Photo DescriptionAir supply unit members -- all members of the Army -- struggle with the two 24 foot parachutes which have safely brought the 45 gallon drums of oil to the snow-packed field at Gimli during training for Exercise Muskox. During the 3, 100 mile trek across Canada's northland, the moving force of 45 men will be supplied by air with fuel, food and, if necessary, spare parts for their snowmobiles. Intensive training is being done at Gimli and when the party shoves off for Churchill on December 29, another six weeks will be spent in that northern port putting the finishing touches to the various phases of loading, lashing, and attaching chute to containers.
