Photo DescriptionPhotograph taken in June of 1948 during a glaciological research expedition to Greenland ice cap. The 2 mile long, 2/3 of an inch in diameter, 2 1/2 ton steel wire in unloaded from the expedition's ship "Foza." The raft carries half of the weight. Two more coils are being put into the boat at left.
