The photograph was taken in 1916 by Inspector F. H. French, who served as an officer in the Royal North West Mounted Police and was involved in many of the force's sovereignty and security patrols of the Canadian Arctic in the early twentieth century. Photo Location Canada—Québec—Kuujjuaq (58 06 00 N, 068 25 00 W) Custodial History Earliest known custodian is McGill University, Montréal; transferred to University of Calgary in 1973.
